building your alerion

The Alerion ownership experience starts with designing and specifying the boat that meets your needs and aesthetic preferences. In addition to a variety of options available on each model, we offer fabrics and finishes that will make your boat uniquely yours. Your participation in the building process, from fabric selections to factory visits, is encouraged and part of what makes building your boat special. We enjoy this creative process as much as you do; bringing a sailor’s dream to reality is what fuels the passion of our in-house designers and craftsmen. Please note that standard options may vary per model.
"It was truly delightful working with Alerion on the build of our boat. Everything was done for us with no problems—and what a wonderful boat to sail! "

–Charlie Leighton Former Commodore, NYYC & President of US Sailing

Step One

Choosing Your Yacht

Each Alerion Yacht is a nimble craft that evokes the past in appearance but embraces the present in performance. The admiration that an Alerion draws at the dock is doubled by the respect she creates under sail. This is a very fast and maneuverable sailboat, which can turn in its own length and is so well balanced it needs only the lightest touch on the tiller. Classic lines and proportions coupled with modern underbody design and hull construction are the hallmark of the Alerion fleet. With more than 600 Alerions in existence, Alerion Yachts are the clear choice of discriminating sailors around the world. Choose from one of our ever popular models.

For your topsides or cove stripe, we use Awlcraft 2000, a premium acrylic urethane, high gloss finish. Solid or metallic, choose from hundreds of colors to suit your style.

Choose Your Fabric

We recommend Naugahyde or Ultraleather for your cockpit cushions for their ease of cleaning and upkeep.

Step Four

The Build

The building process begins when the boat is laid up using our resin-infusion molding process. We carefully monitor the progress of your hull as it passes through the factory, ensuring that every component is carefully crafted and installed. Upon commissioning in Rhode Island, we will take time to assure that you are comfortable and understand all aspects and features of your Alerion. You may choose to have your boat delivered and commissioned elsewhere; our crew can help you select the best yard for carrying out this process.
